ROUTE INFO

The 53 km route covers the "Valdorcia Classic" sector, after the start it passes through the Rocca di Tentennano (your beacon for the entire race), you cross Rocca d'Orcia and descend to cross the Orcia river to reach the ancient spa town of Bagno Vignoni, famous for its pool in the center of the village, you climb to the Rocca di Vignoni Alto and reach San Quirico d'Orcia, a village rich in history located on the Via Francigena where Frederick Barbarossa was crowned Emperor of the Holy Empire, you will cross the lands made famous by the film "The Gladiator" with its Champs Elysées and the church of the Madonna di Vitaleta, to reach Pienza, the ideal city wanted by Pope Pius II, today a UNESCO heritage site, more hills and you arrive in Monticchiello, a town rich in history and recently famous for its "Teatro Povero" where all the inhabitants perform, you descend along the Via Agogna where you can enjoy a 360° view of the Valdorcia, you look again at the River and you arrive at Gallina (2nd life base) and at this point we head towards the arrival even if there will be the last climb that will take you to the arrival in Castiglione d'Orcia.
