The Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage Site

The Tuscany Crossing takes place in the heart of the Val d'Orcia, a landscape recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2004. Hills shaped by erosion, rows of cypress trees, dirt roads, and medieval villages make up a territory where human presence and nature have shaped each other over the centuries.

The route passes through places such as Castiglione d'Orcia, Bagno Vignoni, San Quirico d'Orcia, Pienza, and Monticchiello—each with its own history, each still recognizable in its original form.

BY CAR FROM THE SOUTH:

Chiusi-Chianciano Terme exit (A1). Continue towards Chianciano Terme, then towards Monte Amiata. Once you reach the SS2-Cassia intersection, continue towards Castiglione d'Orcia-Bagno Vignoni. Leave the SS2 and follow the signs for Castiglione d'Orcia.

FROM THE NORTH:

Firenze Certosa - Impruneta exit (A1). Take the highway towards Siena, exit Siena Sud towards Rome on the SS2 Cassia. Leave the SS2 following the signs for Castiglione d'Orcia.

BY TRAIN

The most popular trains are: Ligne Sienne Buonconvento. Buonconvento can be reached by bus towards Castiglione d'Orcia. For timetables, visit http://www.at-bus.it.
