The Trilogy of Rebirth at the gates of Val d'Orcia
An Epic Run or Walk in Three Acts
This is not just a trail running race. It is an initiatory journey that unfolds over three magical days, transforming Easter 2026 into an unforgettable experience. Two legendary routes in the municipality of Montalcino, two medieval villages that whisper stories of centuries past, and the promise that every kilometre travelled will be a personal rebirth.
The Pasqua EcoTrail is a trilogy written by the wild landscapes of the Val d'Orcia, the stone walls that have seen generations pass by, and the beating hearts of those who choose to take on this extraordinary challenge.

HOLY SATURDAY: MONTISI AND THE ROOTS OF HISTORY

The village where time stands still
Montisi is not a random place. It is a medieval island suspended in time, where every alleyway tells of lordships, battles lost and won, love and tradition. When the runners arrive here on Holy Saturday, they are not simply reaching a starting point: they are setting foot in a place where history still breathes.
The stone walls of Montisi have seen knights and pilgrims, merchants and monks. This is evidenced by the historical re-enactment of the 'Giostra di Simone' (Simone's Joust), which takes place every year in August, but now they will see you. Running to and from Montisi means running through the centuries, letting the spirit of this ancestral village inspire you to go beyond your limits.
The 19 km route: An odyssey through memory
These 19 kilometres are not just a distance. They are 19 kilometres of paths winding through the Tuscan countryside, passing through fields where the echoes of rural traditions still resound, crossing woods that preserve centuries-old secrets. The route has been designed to respect nature and the territory, to make you feel in harmony with the land you tread on. It is not a violent conquest of nature, but a conscious dialogue with it. Every bend in the path has been designed by those who truly love these places, to ensure that runners discover the authentic beauty of Tuscany.
The magic of Holy Saturday
There is something deeply symbolic about running on Holy Saturday. It is a day of waiting, a day when the old has died but the new has not yet been fully born. It is a moment of silence before the resurrection. When you run in Montisi on this day, you are crossing that threshold, that mystical transition where anything is possible.
Competitors who finish this first stage will not simply have completed 19 kilometres. They will have crossed an invisible door that will have prepared them for the final rebirth.

EASTER SUNDAY: THE DAY OF CONSCIOUS REST

It is not absence, it is fullness
And then Easter itself arrives. While the world around you celebrates with banquets and family gatherings, you who have run on Holy Saturday and await Easter Monday will experience a different celebration. A celebration of the body resting after giving its all, of the mind finally silent, of the soul that has been transformed.
Easter becomes a time for reflection, for conscious celebration of what you have been through. You can choose to be with those you love, to share the profound meaning of this feast.
With whomever you want
This is the heart of the EcoTrail Easter: freedom. It is not just a race, it is not just a sporting event. It is a space where you can decide how to celebrate. With the friends who ran with you? With your family? With the community that shares your passion? With yourself?
EASTER MONDAY: TORRENIERI AND THE NORTHERN GATEWAY TO THE VAL D'ORCIA

The gateway to paradise
If Montisi is the ancient heart of tradition, Torrenieri is the northern gateway to the Val d'Orcia. It is called the 'North Gate' for a specific reason: it is the point where the modern world gives way to wild, unspoilt beauty. When the runners wake up on Easter Monday and head towards Torrenieri, they know they are about to embark on the second chapter of this extraordinary epic.
The second route: 19 kilometres towards the open sky
Another 19 kilometres. Another challenge, but a different one. If Holy Saturday was a dialogue with history, Easter Monday is a dialogue with eternity. The route that winds to and from Torrenieri takes you into the true wild heart of the Val d'Orcia, where the landscapes are so magnificent that they seem unreal.
As you run, you see solitary cypress trees standing tall like silent guards, wheat fields swaying like golden seas, and panoramas that suddenly open up, taking your breath away. Every metre of these 19 kilometres is an invitation to recognise your smallness in the face of the grandeur of nature and, paradoxically, your inner immensity.
The day of resurrection accomplished
Easter Monday is a day of celebration, victory and celebration. When competitors complete this second stage, they have not only doubled their challenge: they have fully accepted their rebirth. They have become different. Stronger, more aware, more connected.

THE COMPLETED TRILOGY: WHO WILL YOU BECOME?

More than a physical challenge
When you have run the 19 kilometres of Holy Saturday in Montisi and the 19 kilometres of Easter Monday in Torrenieri, you will have covered not only 38 kilometres of trail. You will have traversed history, embraced wild nature, challenged your limits, and rediscovered the true meaning of Easter.
The medieval walls of Montisi will have witnessed your determination. The North Gate of the Val d'Orcia will have been the threshold of your personal transformation. And you will no longer be the same person who started on Holy Saturday.
The message of sustainability
Every step of the Easter Eco Trail 2026 is a vote for sustainability. By running consciously through these beautiful landscapes of the Municipality of Montalcino, you are simultaneously protecting and celebrating. You are demonstrating that sport and the environment can not only coexist, but can amplify each other.

THE FINAL INVITATION

The 2026 Easter Eco Trail in the municipality of Montalcino awaits you. It doesn't matter if you are an experienced ultra-runner or simply someone who feels the call of something authentic. These two 19 km trails, these two medieval villages rich in tradition, and these three days of Easter transformed into a personal epic are waiting for you.
Come to Montisi on Holy Saturday. Come to Torrenieri on Easter Monday. Celebrate Easter as a true resurrection, not as an abstract religious concept, but as a tangible, physical, spiritual rebirth.
The Val d'Orcia is calling you. Montalcino awaits you. Your rebirth begins here.
